Le Vautour de la sierra (1909, France)

This series was based on the books from The Vulture Sierra series by Georges Clavigny (1873-1952).

It is worth highlighting the participation of Joë Hamman, an actor, director, and illustrator considered one of the pioneers of the French Western alongside to the already mentioned Victorin-Hippolyte Jasset, with the production of Riffle Bill, le roi de la prairie (1908), which we have already seen here.

At just 12 years old, Hamman became fascinated with cinema at one of the Lumière brothers' presentations. At age 21, he accompanied his father on a business trip to the United States and there discovered Buffalo Bill’s show, even becoming friends with the Old West star. Upon returning to France, he began developing the idea of producing Western films and created his production company, Les Films Joë Hamman. Through it, he produced films until 1937. After World War II, he set production aside and focused solely on his acting career, working in over 100 films until 1967; he directed 17 and wrote seven.
